MY APPROACH

My therapeutic style is compassionate, intentional, and informal, while rooted in a relational and trauma-informed lens.

My goal is to always work together as a team, so that we can build a trusting relationship. Getting to know you will help me understand what exactly you need from our sessions and from me as your therapist.

I value looking for connections between your childhood experiences and your present situation, because they can help us uncover patterns that may be influencing your life today. By exploring these connections, we can gain valuable insights into who you are as a person and deepen your self-awareness. This is why I use psychodynamic and attachment theory throughout my work, because they help us understand the complexities of human behavior and relationships.

I also value the mind-body connection and can incorporate mindfulness techniques into our sessions. Through deep breathing and grounding exercises, we can work on soothing any discomfort that may arise. I will always provide opportunities to pause and regulate when needed, whether through stretching or taking a moment to get a glass of water. Your emotional safety really matters to me.

In my practice, I draw from a range of research-based modalities, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Compassion-Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Solution-Focused Therapy. I know that there isn’t one particular modality for everyone, which is why I blend these approaches to find what works best for you.

In addition to providing tailored support, I’m committed to fostering inclusivity and practicing anti-racism. Your unique identity and experiences will be celebrated and respected throughout our time together. I’m passionate about creating a space where you can be your authentic self and feel truly understood.

SPECIALTIES

  • Grief and Loss

Grief is a deeply personal and individual experience. There’s no one-size-fits-all approach to navigating through it. There are no fixed timelines, instructions, or formulas to follow when it comes to grief. It’s a natural and challenging process that affects each person uniquely.

I’m passionate about grief therapy because I believe that everyone encounters some form of grief in their lives, whether it be the loss of a loved one, a divorce, the end of a job, or other major life changes. My primary objective is to create a supportive space where you can freely express and process all the emotions that arise from your grief. Whether it's tears, laughter, or reminiscing about cherished memories, I’m here to accompany you on your grief journey.

My role as a therapist is to help you navigate and make sense of what your new life looks like amidst the grieving process. I’m dedicated to offering guidance and support as you gradually adjust to this new reality and find meaning and healing in your own time.

  • Anxiety

Anxiety is a common and distressing experience that can manifest in our thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations. As a therapist and human being, I understand the discomfort it brings and the impact it can have on your well-being. Whether you’re new to anxiety or have been dealing with it for awhile, I’m here to offer support.

For those who are new to anxiety, I can help you recognize triggers and develop coping skills to manage it. Together, we can explore how anxiety presents itself in your life and help you regain control.

If you’ve been experiencing anxiety for awhile, I can help you cultivate a new relationship with it. Rather than pushing it away, we can work towards integrating anxiety into your life in a healthier way.

While anxiety may be uncomfortable, it serves a purpose by offering some form of protection. By understanding its underlying causes and learning to navigate its presence, we can work towards finding balance and relief.

  • Highly Sensitive People

It can feel lonely when those closest to us struggle to understand the depth of our emotions and the impact that external stimuli can have on our wellbeing. I want you to know that you are not alone, and as an HSP myself, I’m here to provide support and guidance.

One of the most powerful aspects of therapy for HSPs is the validation that comes from discovering and embracing this trait. It can be empowering to recognize that your sensitivity is not a flaw, but rather an integral part of who you are.

We can develop a plan to help you navigate situations that may trigger overwhelm, allowing you to feel more comfortable. By identifying your triggers and implementing strategies to mitigate their impact, we can create an environment that fosters growth and resilience.

Together, we will explore the challenges that arise from being highly sensitive, while also uncovering the advantages and strengths that this trait can bring. By embracing your sensitivity, we can work towards harnessing its positive aspects, such as heightened empathy, creativity, and intuition.
